The Academic Center (AC) basketball teams won all three of their games on Sat., Jan. 25, in hopes to compete in the playoffs.

The day started with the 7th/8th grade girls, who took on Wildwood. Taft took an early lead to start the game, but Wildwood made a comeback midway through the 3rd quarter as their shots started to fall down. However, this momentum was short lived as Taft closed the game in the 4th quarter, winning 32-23.

Later that day, the 8th grade boys took on Wildwood. Nkonyeasua Osamor (Div. 412), also known as Mark, led the team both in scoring and blocked shots.

“We had great ball movement. We used this to our advantage as we kept finding the open man. As a result, everyone one on the team was able to score,” said Coach Jorge Martinez.

The 8th graders went on to win the game 52-22.

The final game of the evening was the 7th grade boys. They faced Norwood Park, hoping to bounce back from a losing effort last weak against Edison Park. Led by center Dylan Pepper (Div. 512), the 7th graders transition game lead them to beat Norwood Park 42-24.

All three teams hope to secure their seat in the playoffs as they play their final regular season game this Sat. Feb. 1 at the Varsity Campus.
