William Howard Taft High School will revamp its outdated current gradebook system, Impact, for the new program, Aspen, this January 2019.

The new gradebook program, Aspen, will become the official gradebook for Taft students and teachers on Jan. 7. Staff welcomes Aspen because it allows for quick and timely access to data such as grades and attendance, providing better support for student and parent use. Student grades, which will be transferred during winter break, will not be impacted.

“The program looks to be much more involved than the previous gradebook. It will allow a lot more great features for parents,” said Communication Director Trent Eaton.

In order for the system change to be smooth, there needs to be a transition period where both teachers and students will be able to learn all about Aspen.

“There is no good time to roll out a new student information system.  The concept is that teachers will have about 15 weeks, right now, to learn the new system with their current rosters and data. This is the training period for teachers to explore the system, get comfortable and learn the basics of how it works,” said Assistant Principal Eric Flores via email.

Further information on the new gradebook program Aspen has been given to parents at parent teacher conferences, and more information will continue to be released through the Taft website.
