Taft’s very own Andriy Podufalyy has recently won a scholarship from the American Academy of Art. The $16,500 scholarship was tied to a competition  held in November and December of last year by the American Art Institute.

“I have been drawing all of my life and now I can see some results. […] art for me is, first of all, a skill; the same as being a carpenter or being an engineer, that is something that have to learn is hard work. You also have to aim for perfection to master your skills,” said Podufalyy.

Podufalyy’s passion for art has been a long held one and one that has deeply impacted his life and the choices he has made; and this sudden scholarship has helped him to get on the right track towards reaching his goal.

“I hope to continue art in the future and find some good art related career. […] Most likely I am going to the American Academy of Art and then I will see what I should do. […] If you have a passion for something and would like to do it, make sure to spend a lot of time on it and you will see the results,” said Podufalyy.

Podufalyy’s passion for art and his determination to get as good as he can has not only impacted his life, but also those who are around him motivating them to improve themselves as well.

“When they see someone like Andriy who has a lot of experience and whose work generally looks really great, when he is being critical and pushing himself further, it really sets a positive tone for the class because his classmates see that even when you think something looks good, it might not be done. […] I just feel very lucky to have him in my class,” said Jennifer Trejo, an art teacher.

Podufalyy’s journey through art has still a long way to go and his determination and passion for art will be a driving factor to push him on towards success inspiring others that with enough hard work, dedication, perseverance, and passion anyone can reach their goal and dreams.
