From April 25 to April 28 Taft High School presented  its musical We Will Rock You. The musical, which is based off of Queen’s music and Rock N’ Roll, was directed by Bryan Wilson, who teaches Drama I, Drama II, and IB Theatre. The musical itself was an immersive and mesmerizing experience. The mix of live music and singing along with a fun and enjoyable story made for wonderful entertainment and a great time. The characters were easy to like and support and the actors owned up to their characters embodying the their characters and the script.

The musical follows the story of the protagonist Galileo 300 years in the future in a dystopian future as he, Scaramouche, and the Bohemians fight to bring back Rock N’ Roll and real music and defeat Killer Queen.

Despite all the positives there were some things that detract from the play. There did arise at times technical issues with the microphone and speaker and were occasions when the music overpowered the singing making it impossible to hear. Applause must be granted to the cast for even when these issues did occur, they did not falter in their performance.

We Will Rock You is a fun musical that touches on the more serious themes of life with a more comedic  and lighthearted approach. We can all look forward to what the Taft Theater has to offer next. Congratulations to the Cast and Crew for their amazing performance.
