The Taft Eagles took first place at the swim meet against the Curie Condors.

The Eagles have a win to celebrate after Saturday’s Dec.16 meet crushing the Condors at Curie high school. Head coach Jason Polensky is thrilled with the team and their efforts to keep up the hard work and determination to keep improving.

It is a great way to start the season with a win against quality opponents. We had a rough start at the St.Patrick’s relays, so it was nice to get back to our winning ways. We continue to get better as a team each day and continue to row the boat,” said Polensky.

The top swimmer at the meet was Martin Vellocellos who is the team captain. He holds personal bests in the 500-meter and 200-meter range.

“Everyone had really close times and we managed to drop big time for some of our relays. I am happy that my efforts are recognized by the team and I hope to keep continuing giving it my all. Winning this show that we deserve to be in gold conference and this win also shows how much this program is improving”, said Vellocellos.

The next swim meet will be when we come back from break on Tue. Jan.9 against Curie High School at 5:00p.m. at Curie
